BHATE’s construction materials testing laboratories (Birmingham, Auburn/Opelika, Gulfport) go through rigorous evaluation to maintain accreditation through the AASHTO Accreditation Program (AASHTO re:source), the Concrete and Cement Reference Laboratory (CCRL) and is a validated laboratory with the US Army Corps of Engineers, ALDOT and MDOT. With dedicated personnel performing tests in accordance with ASTM or AASHTO, our engineers and technicians maintain quality by performing routine equipment verification, annual performance evaluation and participating in proficiency sample testing administered by AASHTO re:source and CCRL.  Our team is trained to perform a wide variety of soil, rock, materials and chemicals testing, and work is reviewed by senior engineers who provide an internal quality assurance function.  BHATE uses state-of-the-art technology and innovative testing methods that allow us to non-destructively assess materials.

Soils and Aggregates Testing

• Compaction testing and observation of soil, earthwork, base, backfill and rockfill placement
