Girls Inc of Central Alabama hosted the women of BHATE Geosciences at their Eureka Teen Achievement Program which engages middle and high-school girls in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs. BHATE talked with the girls about what it means to be a geotechnical and materials engineer, the schooling needed to become an engineer and how engineering applications are used in building and road design. The girls got to participate in hands-on activities to learn about different types of soils, concrete and clays and hold and view laboratory and testing equipment used during geotechnical and materials tests.
