BHATE has worked on numerous projects on Children’s of Alabama campus including the Benjamin Russell Hospital and central energy plant. The Lee Building at Children’s of Alabama is a 6-story, 115,00 SF medical office building with a 1,500-car parking deck connected by a pedestrian bridge to all of the hospital’s campus facilities.
BHATE Geosciences provided geotechnical engineering, drilled shaft observation, driven pile installations, GPR structure scan for reinforcing steel and post tension cables and CMTI services for concrete testing and concrete placement inspection, earthwork, floor flatness/floor levelness, masonry, post tension, reinforcing steel and structural steel for the Lee Building and parking deck.
Brasfield & Gorrie was the construction manager and Williams Blackstock Architects as the architect for the project.
The Building at Children’s of Alabama opened in 2019 for more than 200 employees working in non-clinical support services. With the addition of the Lee Building, Children’s of Alabama’s campus facilities total more than 3.5 million SF, making it one of the largest pediatric medical facilities in the country. We are proud to be part of such a significant project and continue our long-term relationship with Children’s of Alabama.
